There isn't much middle ground with mathematics. Mathematics is a very important area that everyone should master. Mathematics helps you get better paying jobs, scholarships, better SAT scores, and makes college a lot easier if you have a knack for it. Behind every good math student is a great math teacher. Many math teachers present the basic equations and have their students work from a book. Though this will work, it is a very dull approach and the most successful mathematics teachers use student interaction and turn every day into something fun.
Mathematics teachers aren't as common as English or Art teachers as it requires a different way of thinking. Mathematics teachers are usually very logical people who have loved math and its different forms since an early age. Kindergarten and early elementary school teachers teach a bit of everything but the specialized math teacher really begins to show up around 6th grade for most people.
If you decide to become a math teacher, it is a good idea to pick just one or two areas of expertise such as geometry and algebra or statistics and trigonometry. This allows you to work from only a couple workbooks and learning plans. If you teach 6 different mathematics classes a day, it could become overwhelming for even the most skilled mathematics teacher.
A good mathematics teacher is able to teach their students in an entertaining yet very practical way. They should use many real life examples and computer programs to help their students understand how often mathematics is used on a daily basis. Even very young students can benefit from this style of teaching. For example, instead of just having your students memorize equations, have them watch a video or play a game that utilizes that equation in action. This makes it much more memorable than just staring at numbers on a piece of paper.
The mathematics teacher has many avenues for employment as they are usually in high demand. They can work for preschools, elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and private facilities. Many governmental programs hire math teachers for state and federal use such as prisons, adult learning centers, and the military. If you decide to become a math teacher, choose what type of students you would like to teach and inquire about positions in your area or an area you would like to live. This is a great, long term career that helps many people prepare for college or the workplace.

A teaching degree is a must have if you are interesting in helping to shape future generations by helping their education.

To become a certified teacher, you must have a love of teaching others and also have at minimum, a bachelors degree in education. A bachelors degree is only the bare minimum you may be required to have but can be a great step on the road to fulfilling your teaching goals. Many teachers attend school and work on their masters degree in their preferred subject while teaching with a bachelors degree only. Typically after you get a bachelors degree, you will go through a teaching internship at a local school before you actually start teaching your own classes.

A bachelors degree in education will take the average person around 4 years of full-time classes. These classes run the gambit from math and science to psychology and public speaking. Teachers are in very high demand and many schools offer the full bachelor's degree. These schools are online or traditional in nature. After your bachelor's degree, you will need classroom experience followed by a license to teach. Most schools offer internships for graduates and will place you with a school in your area as a teacher's aide or other position that will guarantee you your needed experience in the classroom.

A master's degree in education requires you first get your bachelor's degree, then take between 2-3 years of additional classes depending on how much you can do per semester. The master's degree is very specialized and is great for teachers who want to focus on a certain branch of academics. Science and Math teachers are a good example of teachers who usually have a master's degree. In addition to elementary and high school, with your master's degree, you have the option to move on to becoming a college level teacher in that subject in the future. There are different types of master's degrees in the educational field so you will want to pursue the one you find the most interesting and make sure it is something you will use in your field.

There are many different jobs you can pursue with teaching degrees. Whether you love to teach kindergarten age children or teenagers, you can realize your dream in a relatively short amount of time to be in a career you will love for a lifetime. To make a difference in a student's life is a very special thing and many people can recall one or two teachers that really made learning special.
